Summer Events: Puppet Shows and Free Classes
June 18th, 2011The schedule for the August events is coming along: puppetshows* and free trial/bring-a-friend/refresher classes galore!

Iris Saves the Land of Black and White”, a wonderful, fun and funny puppet show with live music and the puppets of the Purple Palace.
A show that is able to draw in the attention of the youngest kids while their adult friends will enjoy it no less!
“Iris Saves the Land of Black and White” is a collaboration between puppeteer Heather Jarry and musician Laura Freeman. Join Iris, Goddess of the Rainbow, on a quest to find her lost colors! She journeys through the Land of Black and White, a land ruled by a king who outlawed all color – due to a horrible coloring accident as a child!
With the help of the audience, Iris and the inhabitants of the land rediscover their true colors. Watch the Land of Black and White transform before your eyes!
This is a free puppet show, however, donations greatly appreciated, suggested donation $5 per child.
First Summer Event: June 10th
June 9th, 2011Come sing with children’s songwriter Laura Freeman on June 10th!
The Spring session came to it’s end – as most good things will end sooner or later… I would like to than everybody for a wonderful time. We all put in heart, soul, rhythm, singing love for the kids and for music and the outcome was so often just amazing, shear musical fun and joy! I miss you guys already and hope to see your happy faces back in the Fall – and better yet: during the summer! Our first Summer event (and last before my trip to Europe) is on Friday, June 10 at 10AM in Querencia (Barton Creek). We will be singing and having fun with Laura Freeman, children’s song writer and entertainer.

The list is started by and for Whirligig music families but families with young kids from the Austin-Dripping Springs-San Marcos triangle are welcome to join. The list is intended to organize playdates and find partners for activities: please, post if you have an idea and would like others to join you!

Spring Registration News
February 28th, 2011The early enrollment for the Spring session is open, you can sign up until March 15th with a $10 discount (or $15 for two kids).
If you sign up now by paying the $50 non-refundable deposit, the discount will still apply for your Spring your tuition.
Please, sign up as early as you can and urge your friends to do so, too. In popular classes it will make sure you get the spot you want. Last session I ended up canceling two classes and for both it turned out that there were more than enough families who wanted to sign up – except, they did not sign up before the first day of class! Please, help me make sure that does not happen again!
If you have a mailing list, mom’s group or bulletin board you would like to post information about our classes, please, do. (And if you both sign up, both you and your referred family will receive a $10 coupon towards future tuition!)

New location!
Our old Dripping Springs location, the Head to Toe Dance studio has moved to a lovely little spot on Mercer Street! It is convenient, beautiful and very appropriate for our purposes – that’s where the Tuesday morning class shall take place!
Winter session makeup/bring-a-friend classes
Week 0 of the Spring session will be makeup classes for current students as well as “bring-a-friend” and free tryout classes. Let me know if you are coming: families making up for missed classes get first preference. Classes will only be held if a minimum of 4 kids sign up, if we experience overenrollment, additional classes will be scheduled!

Flutes are Fun! And housekeeping…
October 5th, 2010We are starting the Winter session (bringing us the “Sticks” collection) on the week after Thanksgiving. The session will consist of 3 weeks before Christmas and 7 weeks after the Winter break! Registration will open at the end of October. Since a few of the classes are very popular and might not be able to accommodate everyone interested, the Winter registration will happen according to a priority system.
The pre-enrollment deadline is November 13th, a $50 non-returnable deposit secures a spot until the first day of class. Currently enrolled families, if pre-enrolled, will get their first pick if they want to remain in their current class, and second pick if they wish to move to a different class. New, or not currently enrolled families can reserve a spot and after the pre-enrollment deadline will be assigned spots in their preferred classes on a first come first served basis.
The Fall session featuring the Flute collection is rolling! Both the kids and the grownups are having a lot of fun singing about the Earth, throwing silk leaves, jimming along and shaking those simmons (down!). Thank you all for your participation! You are contributing so much to all the kids’ music class experience: the classes would not be half this much fun without your rhythm, movement, singing – and fun loving attitude!
I am especially cherishing our intergenerational class – what a gift to all! Young children getting to connect with the Grandfriends who just cannot stop smiling and saying “aren’t they JUST wonderful” (beautiful, gorgeous, something – worded slightly differently by different friends). I have been visiting with them for a long time and know most of them well personally. You would probably not believe what a difference the kids’ and your presence makes to their lives! They are invigorated, happy, bringing up memories of their young families’ days… Thank you all, who joined me there sharing your fabulous selves and dancing and singing children with our Grands!
New Monday Class in Plum Creek!
September 22nd, 2010A new Monday, 3:30PM class is currently forming in Plum Creek, to be held at the Shock Dance Center. This class will be 8 weeks long and the tuition is $140 for the first child and $80 for the second. Get in touch now if you want to join! The first class will take place next Monday, Sept 27th IF we have enough interest by this Saturday. If the class is starting, there will be a few more spots open for people who want to come on Monday to try out the class and decide then if they want to join or not!
