Scholarships

We are so grateful to all of you who generously donated to our Whirligig Music SCHOLARSHIP FUND last semester. The scholarship fund is available to help families less fortunate or in times of need to partake in our family music classes. 100% of the money donated to the fund goes towards tuition relief of deserving families and there is always a need for more. You can help in two ways: contribute a gift as small as $5 or as much as a full tuition. Just include this amount with your tuition or donate below. You can donate to the fund or give us the name of someone you would like to see awarded a scholarship.
Partial or full scholarships awarded upon availability and at the discretion of the director.

Whirligig Music’s belief is that developing into the musical beings that we were born to be is each of us’  fundamental, human right. Kids are born with the predisposition to be musical,  just as they are born able to learn to speak or walk. Kids who do not have the ability to develop musically are just as rare as kids who have no linguistic or motor skills.

However, children will not learn adequate language skills from watching TV and they will not learn to walk if they don’t get a chance to move around. To help them develop musically, “always having music on in the house” is truly not enough. Kids need their caregivers’ modeling, they need to see their favorite adults express themselves, play in musical ways – regardless of the parent’s musical ability.  Just as most of us are not GREAT speakers or ballet dancers and yet we can teach our kids the basics of language and movement, the parents do not need to be great musicians to model basic musical/rhythmic play and appreciation for musical expression.
Whirligig Music’s goal, beyond weekly musical fun in class, is to support the caregivers in their role as music educators by offering a “healthy variety” of different songs, tunes, rhymes and rhythms, modeling different ways of musical interaction and play and help create a supportive community of music makers.
Children have the right to an enviromment that supports their musical development. Whirligig Music has a limited number of scholarships available and will try to help all families in need to attend Music Together®.
If your family needs tuition assistance, apply for a scholarship HERE.

If you are able and would like to contribute to our scholarship fund, Whirligig Music (and the recipient families) would greatly appreciate your help.
